Doll Day: BTW Bus

Yesterday, I got the chance to dress up at hang out with lots of cool people~ <3 Gaga's Born This Way Bus was in town, so of course I donned one of my best outfits and wigs for the occasion. I put in my geo lens, full make up, and amped up my dolly disposition.

When I saw Gaga in concert in Tacoma, I didn't get to check out the inside of the BTW Buses. Upon hearing that it was stopping in Chicago even after the tour had been cancelled, I knew I had to sign up for the event! I was one of the first 100 sign ups, and I was there right at 12:00 to get in. I met so many fun little monsters.  (´ω`★)

Free food!

My personal favorite <3

We all stayed there for the entire duration of the event. There were rumours that Gaga might show, since it's her birthday week (Happy Birthday, Gaga!), and she was in town visiting her boyfriend.

Die-hard fan tattoo~
Unfortunately for those of us super-committed, she didn't show. But it was alright, because I met so many amazing people!!

At the very end of our 7 hour adventure, Black Jesus himself made an appearance!! He was kind enough to stop and take pictures with everyone who asked... including yours truly. It was very brave of him to go through our huge group and pose with everyone.  (*´∀`*)

That ended the day, and others went off to go out to eat, but I had to return home to devote myself to some homework. (・_・ヾ I said my farewells and gave a lot of hugs~

Overall, it was a lovely day!! I had so much fun and I got so many compliments on my appearance. It felt very nice~ I've been thinking about wearing my geo lenses more often and aiming to buy a few extra pairs. They really seem to amp up any make up or outfit. They lend the the feeling of a 'living doll' look, which is another visual style that I like...

I keep wishing the best for Gaga! I know she's recovering from her surgery and trying to lay low. I'm sure that she will bounce back and be at her 200% energy level for the release of ARTPOP!! <3 Happy birthday, to my dear Gaga.  (*´∀`*) Keep on performing and inspiring!

Fashion Show: Backstage

The end of my first year at SAIC is drawing near, so of course I've been mega busy! (all my free time is filled by watching Supernatural, but that's not the point...)

This obviously means that all the seniors are finishing up their final semesters as well. The fashion show is filled with the impressive work made by SAIC Fashion department students; sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Freshmen like myself are allowed to volunteer, and I was fortunate enough to be working backstage dressing models!! Freshies aren't usually allowed to do this, so I was particularly excited and took my job pretty seriously.

I didn't want to haul my camera around, but I snapped a few photos with my new ~iPHONE~ on my down time. Generally trying to keep everyone anonymous... it wasn't hard with the horrible lighting backstage... :p
Lots of pictures ahead!! Enjoy. :>

I dubbed this collection "The Stepford Wives"

Sneaking around the male models' section... -u-

That's my assigned model in the white, high-collared two-piece look. :>

Crazy wigs galore.

This collection was kind of a big deal. Very cool accessories.

...our dressing station. Four looks total. :>

Anyhow, it was a long but all around fun day. :) I've got a figure review/character corner on the way~ Get pumped!!!

I went out

Just like the title says, I tried out the Chicago train system all on my own today! Usually I have someone with me, but today I really wanted to get out of the house since I was home alone. The aim was to take the train down to Belmont. I wanted go shopping at Chicago Comics and this adorable alternative store called The Alley, but I couldn't find anything in my price range... I decided to save for another time.

I had a little trouble figuring out where I was going at first. I got off at Belmont, but I didn't see Clark street, so I got back on the train and went back to Clark and Division instead. I walked a while before hopping on a bus down Clark, looking for the address of the comic shop, and I ended up where I originally got off at Belmont. So silly....
Luckily, Chicago Comics and The Alley are right next to each other! Two of my favorite kinds of stores!! Awesome.
I didn't take any pictures in the stores, since I'm really paranoid about getting yelled at for photographing merchandise.
Instead of buying stuff, I bought myself one of my all-time favorite foods: the Chipotle vegetarian burrito .

Yum.

I'm still full. haha

Not wanting the day to be over with yet, I decided to get on the orange line and get off at Roosevelt. I was going to get a couple things at Target. I don't normally shop at Target because I don't like to support them, but I didn't know where else I could get My Little Pony toys! (I needed hand sanitizer and tissues as well, but that's not as cute or exciting)

Of course I bought Rarity!! Her mane and tail are kind of crazy, so I'll be styling her later. Maybe I'll make a tutorial out of it to post! :)

Early Chicago Adventures

These past two days have been spent walking around Chicago with Zoe and her boyfriend Jonathan (whom I refer to as Jojo). A couple of days ago, we were going to have fun at the Shedd Aquarium but the line was freakishly long, so instead we went out for sandwiches. :> Zoe wore a ridiculously awesome 11th Doctor themed outfit. Here's a snapshot.

Yes, we got into Doctor Who and now there is no turning back. I need to stop falling into fandoms so easily.

After a day of running around and eating delicious sandwiches, we decided it would be best to go to the aquarium the next day, but early in the morning instead. We arrived at 9 in the morning and there was hardly any line at all! (If you ever go to Shedd, make sure you go EARLY)

It was necessary for us to go to Shedd as soon as we could because they're having a special jellyfish exhibit and Zoe's favorite animal is, of course, jellyfish.

It was really a beautiful exhibit, but we were generally disappointed by the lack of BIG jellyfish.

In the gift shop they had some amazing seal stuffed animals!! SO CUTE. I was dying all over the floor. However, this was really misleading and we walked all around the aquarium looking for a seal exhibit. The closest thing was a sea lion, but he wouldn't even look at me. :I

Long story short, there were no seals. Just amazing plush toys that were way too expensive.

Of course, there were other animals to look at!

But some were actually pretty terrifying. :'D

That thing was terrifyingly large.

Then we went home and read bad fanfiction. Such is my life. On the walk home, the wind was CRAZY. My first experience of Chicago's notorious winds.

Chicago really is such a beautiful city, though. I'm so grateful to be living here with one of my very close friends.
